Southeastern Branch

Introduction:

The Southeastern Branch of the New Brunswick Genealogical Society, Inc. is based in the Greater Moncton area. It encompasses all of Westmorland, Albert, and Kent Counties. Many of its members also have roots within Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, of which the area was part prior to the creation of New Brunswick in 1784.

By-Laws:

Southeastern Branch has initiated the development of its own By-Laws within the framework of the NBGS Constitution. Branch members are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the first four By-Laws, which were adopted by the Branch membership on September 17, 2005. Branch members are also encouraged to assist the By-Law Committee by offering suggestions for the six remaining By-Laws still in under development.


Meetings:

The Southeastern Branch meets on the third Saturday of each month. Please note there are no meetings in June, July, August and December. The Annual General Meeting is held on the second Saturday of May. Meetings are held at Saint John the Baptist Anglican Church, 28 Woolridge, Riverview, NB. Regular meetings start at 2:00 pm. Please note that the Computer User's Group, which used to meet at 1:00 pm prior to the regular meetings, has been discontinued until further notice.

All meetings are open to the General Public.

Dues for 2009 are $35.00 for Individual and Institutional memberships or $40.00 for Family memberships. US members are requested to pay in US funds.


Research (Moncton Public Library):

Southeastern Branch maintains its holdings at the Heritage Room of the Moncton Public Library.

At the present time, a complete list of holdings is not available. However, a comprehensive listing of Acadian books and resources, available both within the Heritage Room as well as the Library's open shelving can be found here.
